Spring has sprung!

There is something about Spring that just encourages change! I swear, it is these days, where the temperature is rising, you can hear the drip-drop of the melting snow and the birds signing along in perfect rhythm that makes the anticipation of it all so rewarding! And I for one, am ready for change! It has been almost a year since we moved into the carriage house (which I adore,) but I can honestly say, it's time to move! The builders are now off of the second level, which means the painters are right behind them! The master bed is built and breathtaking, the "oval office" is complete, the boy's floor has its first coat of camp green paint and I, along with the help of Nan from The Sitting Room have made final decisions on all wall coverings. Also, Jon's wife, Mary and I are just tweaking our final lighting decisions. Mary has an amazing eye and I am so lucky to have her input and ideas. She loves to incorporate vintage and new lighting, giving the house a lot of interest, charm and sophistication.

Waiting PATIENTLY for Spring!

Winter seems to be dragging on and on and we are so thankful to have the house to keep us busy as we wait-patiently for Spring! Jon and his Landschute team took apart the old main entrance and are turning it into a really special fireplace mantel. The main staircase took over a month to finish…Lots of detailed cuts and trim work but the end result is breathtaking! The treads are painted and I keep envisioning myself and the kids running up and down this beautiful staircase. We are also in the process of building a really cool circular bookcase in the upstairs hallway, I've nicknamed it the "oval office," and Jay and I have been collecting old books in preparation of decorating this gorgeous room. On our last trip to London, we bought a collection of antique, green bound hardcover books that I cannot wait to display!! And lastly, the master bath is primed and ready for paint and the shower tile has been installed. It all looks so amazing! Next we move on to the main floor and this little lady is pretty excited to get her kitchen built! The old main entrance!

A home begins to emerge!

SO much is going on at Mona Bina… Lots of saw dust and paint fumes, but you won't see this girl complaining! Landschute is working hard to make the May deadline and we are thrilled with all of the progress!! The painters are following right behind the cabinet makers and the house is really taking shape! So far, I LOVE every little detail and I cannot wait until we move to the main floor to work on the kitchen and living room! Here are just a few pictures of the progress thus far! Enjoy!!

Before and After!

Stonewall before
Stonewall before

Landschute  has been feverishly working on finishing the outside details of 980 Shady! Right now, it's a race against old man Winter and I think Landschute is in the lead!  Here's what's going on...The exterior of the home is trimmed out and painted, landscaping is almost done (believe it or not, sod is still going in) and  I have already picked out window and door trim, bathroom tiles, wood flooring and next week is lighting (I can hardly wait!!) I never thought I would say, "I can't wait for winter," but I am looking forward to the team making the inside of this historic home come to life!   I promise to take pictures! I hope you enjoy these before and after shots! My favorite one is the turn-about (stone-wall) now hidden by evergreens!
